Success Stories
The S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Department is about helping people with disabilities get jobs. Accomplishing that goal involves the cooperation of everyone involved — clients, employers and agency staff. It also requires considerable support from other state agencies, the medical community and social service organizations.
We’d like to share some of our success stories, including:
Grant Bumgarner of Travelers Rest, who survived a terrible motorcycle accident to find a mission in his career.
Ben Elstad, a West Columbia man injured in a vehicle accident, who worked 15 years to become job ready.
Tiffany Hasty of Eastover, who was born prematurely. She wasn’t given much hope for a future, but her mother wouldn’t accept that. Tiffany now has her own job and apartment.
Sean Darcy, a High School/High Tech student from Simpsonville whose internship at the National Weather Service will open many doors.
WIX, an automotive filter manufacturer, whose Dillon plant has benefited from a partnership with SCVRD’s Florence Work Training Center.
Walgreens, the national drug store chain which has partnered with SCVRD and other agencies to hire people with disabilities at its new Anderson distribution center.
